Gopis of Jodhpur (suite)

Gopis of Jodhpur (1 of 3); R Williamson; acrylic on canvas and plaster texture; 12” x 12”; 12/23

A suite of three painting done for my girls, at least for the moment. Based on some Moghul miniatures from the Royal Court of Jodhpur that I had leaned on for inspiration for painting an Indian restaurant that was on the Microsoft campus in Redmond WA. ( … defunct by now, I think)

Gopis of Jodhpur (2 of 3); R Williamson; acrylic on canvas and plaster texture; 12” x 12”; 12/23

Working this small certainly gave me a heightened appreciation of how difficult it must have been to produce the originals, which have a delicacy that isn’t reflected in these pieces. Besides the subject matter, I found myself attracted to the color palette that was used in the many originals. This trio only gives a hint of the combinations that are found there.

Each of these is only 12” x 12”.
