Rodin Sculpture Garden - Angsty Figure

Rodin - sculpture garden sketches; R Williamson; sketchbook drawings; 9/22

Wandering around the grounds of the Rodin Museum in Paris, the large bronze sculptures that he modeled with such intensity invited contemplation and yes, some sketches. The grounds are beautiful in that formal French manicured way and they tout them as a ‘haven of peace’. While that is the message of all the orderly greenery, the sculptures themselves find humans in all sorts of suffering and in some cases, extreme desperation (Ugolino and his Sons, a theme from the 7th and deepest ring of Hell).

I found this solitary one to be in a highly unusual pose; yes, the neck really is at that extreme angle. Made no notes of the title and a quick search online yielded nothing, so I’m just calling him the ‘Angsty Figure’ for now.
