In the spring, Kamela Daniels approached me to make a proposal for the reception area in the then upcoming The Lodge at St Edward Park. Besides providing art consultancy services for the owner/developer of the property, she established a new gallery space in the hotel, utilizing some of the stately corridors for rotating art displays with plans to change seasonally.

Catalyst Fine Art is the name she has given to the project, which includes a diverse collection of media: glass work, paintings, sculptures, print making, photography and even custom furniture. In addition to the gallery, Kamela is working on creating events and programs at the Lodge that feature live music and artists residencies. The whole effort makes the newly transformed seminary complex into a new cultural hub for the Eastside with many reasons for visitors to keep coming back. The gallery is also represented in full on line, with the lodge programming included, artist bios, etc.

With the first rotation under her belt, I now have several pieces out at the site, including a couple that relate closely to the suite of tree trunks that I created for the reception. These have been shown on my site here before but haven’t been seen in public except for a very short stint in a coffee house show that was up for two weeks before the first covid shutdown. Specifically - ‘Riven Stump’, shown above and ‘Stump (untitled)’, shown below. For better or worse, the are being shown in the in-house gift store, ‘Provisions’, surrounded by branded merchandise. Their colors do look real good in the setting.

Three other framed pieces of mine on display, music related works on paper, hanging in the anteroom of the recital area. These should all be on display for sale by Catalyst for the next three months.
